Update for 25/11/06. (Sat)
Today went to SiLRA home at Hougang for a voluntary wrk with the other TFs.
Woke up early in the mornin at 6+am coz meetin Xin Yan at 7.30am at cck to take Mrt to Buangkok station lo, what a long journey la. Boring on the train lo, so long, ya. Reached Buangkok Mrt then only saw 3 other YV members there, as usual, we are early ^^. Went up to the toilet the explore awhile the place, went down again and walked to the other side and went up lo, the place got veri nice scenary but too bad not very convenienent ar. Aiya, went up actually wan buy drinks de, den that uncle go close the shop to go toilet =.=". Went down again, sat near the board wher there are maps den started lookin at the werids names of the NE Lrt wif Xin Yan lo, were laufin lyk two crazy women again la =.=. After a while then went up to see the uncle come back anot lo, hes back =DDD. =.=" I guessed the uncle was hvin his 1st day openin in his shop so all the tings were not in placed so theres no cold drinks or what T.T. Aniwayx, got a can of Red Bull while Xin Yan bought a bottle of H2O and we bought some currypuffs for ourselves and the others as well. O.o The uncle had a trouble while usin the counter machine, it tuk quite a while before he finally key in the price into the machine ar, nvm, haha. We went down back to the Mrt usin the escalator, alamak =.=""", they were all comin up from the other escalator, lolx, went down den went up again, haha. Went to the busstop to take a bus to the SiLRA home, we ate the currypuffs and shared wif Preena they all while waiting. Bus came....
Reached SiLRA home and walked up the slope to the home, then i realised that it was near IMH ar. Went into the home and saw some elderly at lvl 1, they looked kind of friendly and healthy. We had a small introduction of the home by Xue Ping before it was taken over by one of the higher staff(forgotten his name). He brought us around along with one of the nurse, explained to us some things about the elderly there and brought us to the Conference Room. We sat down and listen to his talk about the history of the SiLRA home and the medical problems of the patients there, as well as how it all comes about. Well, the home was mainly consist of patient with Leprosy and as well as ex-Leprosy patient, the building we were at was actually a newly built one in 2004. Yupx, he showed us some photos of what some past activities of the home wif the patients, what they had made and also the pictures of the old SiLRA home (which was kind of in a kampong area). After that, Vick gave us some talks and we went down to the lvl 1 to interact wif the elderly.
Sad oh sad, i tink it was kind of wrong time to go interact with them ar, as it was their lunchtime. I was actually scared at first because some elderly really hated and will get annoyed or irritated when someone disturbed them durin their mealtimes. However, "ying zhi tou pi" and went forward to say "hi" to a grp of them, they RESPONSED HAPPILY, which kind of relaxes me coz they were not angry or what. Chatted awhile wif some of them until i hv really notin to say (limited topics ar, psps) then i went on to the other elderly. They were all very friendly and open ppl. I also saw a uncle, maybe he was very hot-tempered or just not in gd mood that day bahx, he kept shoutin at the nurse for dunno wat ar, like scoldin them like that, just not his day i guess =). Then, went to listen to one auntie tok, she chatted wif us about her children all that and also in the home, can sense that she is a veri "le guan" de person, though her children dun go see her very often, she still tinks alot for them. She also say sometimes will get bullied in the home coz she was quite a "new member" in the home, so the "old members" will push the blame to them lo, ya, dint noe this kind of tink also happen in a elderly home ar. She also showed us some chairs that were tied to the table (like the chair i was sittin on it that day), it was because some ppl dun wan others to misplace or sit on their sits when they want to sit them, so hmmm, kind of selfish, maybe.
After that went back to the Conference Room again. We had some fun games =DDD. First up was to stand in a row and lean against the wall (there were about 10+ ppl there so it was quite squeezy as the room was quite small). Then Vick ask us to arrange ourselves accordin to the aplabatical order of our surnames while still touchin the wall. It was
not that tough coz we still have all of our senses. Great job done! =D After that was to arrange ourselves accordin to the months of our birthday while losin our ability to speak, MORE ppl joined in XPXPXP. Hmmm, then we all used hand-signal to communicate. Alamak! Wan leng and me was in the wrg position, oppx XP, it was fun aniwayx. Up next was real tough i guess, we had to arrange ourselves accordin to our heights while losin our ability to see and speak =.=", that was difficult ar. There was silence for a while before the other side of ppl started to
move towards my side. Holdin on to each other, touchin heads to see how tall the person next to us was to make sure we were in the right position, really tough but WE COMPLETED IT =DDD!!!! Hahax. Next next next was the untangle game tinky, we all have to hold any person hands in the opp side with two other ppl (each hand to one diff ppl), then we have to untangle ourselves. This was really really tough 1 eh coz we were standin in the space which was very small, almost just nice for us to stand while clustered together ar. Gary and Darias and also some others gave commands to hlp to complete the untangle. Hey, i did help too, but only a little coz too confused by so mani hands joint together, any move will brin us to another new knot again. Woot! I tink we took a real long long time before we actually finally completed it, lolx, all hands were stinked wif perspiation la, ewww. Haha! But the game was to prepare us to be a TF durin the camp, yupx, learn alot frm it yea. NOTIN IS IMPOSSIBLE UNLESS YOU NEVER PUT UR MIND IN AND TRY! Yupx.
Had a short session of discussions and sharings of each other experiences when we were dealin wif the elderly earlier. After that, the Committee members briefed us about the tinks we had to do the 2 Dec which was the pre-camp (meet the participants, call them.............) Yupx, alot of stuff to remember. Yupx, each TF(some a wif a pair) was attached to a home for the 2-weeks attachment for the participants after the camp, im attached to REN CI (Hougang) ^^, anitink will be gd aniways coz it will be a whole new experience no matter wher. Maybe Preena will join mi in Ren Ci yea? Still dunno yet coz she will be overseas for a long period of time durin the attachment period, dunno if she can make it anot. Debriefed then went off after that. WAs about to went out of the home to the busstop after goin to the toilet when Wan Leng stopped us to take a picture >.<, took a picture wif Xin Yan then after that we were forced to take a short video T.T, we had to say "SAY NO TO STRANGERS" =.=", T.T T.T T.T. lolx. Went off then went back again to ask for directions, haha, dunno wher to go take bus ma. Dunno ask how mani times in the end, went to the busstop and took 88 which we were told to do so thehhmmm..GOT LOST????? =.=" I tink we took the wrg side or what bahx, haha. Ask the bus driver wher to alight to go to the Mrt. ME: "Eh, where to alight to go to the Mrt ar?"
Bus Driver: " Which Mrt station you want to go?"
ME: "Nearest one bahx, at wher?"
Bus Driver: "Erm, you want Pasir Ris Mrt or the NorthEast line de?."
ME: " Yaya, the NorthEast line de."
Bus Driver: "Hmm then i dunno le coz my bus goin Pasir Ris."
DIAOX la, u dunno still ask mi so much =.=", just say this bus goin Pasir Ris mrt la =.=", lol, we alighted the bus as told by one of the auntie tha we can take another bus to Sengkeng Mrt, haixxxxxxxxxxx. Waited for another bus lo, lol, wasted so much time ar. Reached the Sengkeng Station den went to the CompassPoint to have lunch. Wah, so packed wif ppl ar there coz ther have some celebrities activities, see abit den went to search for the Food Court lo. =.=" So nan find one sia the Food Court, somemore so mani ppl so hard to get around ar, so frustratin de >:O. lolx, finally ar found the place lo. Ate the Jap food while XY ate e Taiwan de. Then went to do abit of shoppin coz we have to buy a Door gift for our participants on the Pre-camp ar. Cant
find any but i already decided what to give them le, hehehe. Went Watson see see then see here see there =.=". Finally went to take Mrt lo. We alighted at Douby Ghaut coz she say wan go take bus lo =.=", go go lo. Reached there den walked for sometime den found the busstop lo. So tired ar. Took the bus, we were like two crazy women again, tokin so loud ar, lol. Then went CCK mrt there meet Papa for dinner lo =.= , eatin again ar, but i nv eat in the end coz too full le, waited for papa to eat finish den went home lo.
Notin much then, went home took dogs out "da bian", bathe den slacked,
